Like a Dragon: Ishin Reviews Suggest Another Good Remake

The release of Like a Dragon: Ishin is just around the corner, so the first reviews have begun to appear online. In general, they are very positive, but it is not a perfect remake.

The first reviews of Like a Dragon: Ishin - a remake of the 19th-century spin-off to the Yakuza series, have appeared online. They show that Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has very efficiently refreshed the game from 2014. Which is not to say perfectly, as 8s dominate among the ratings.

Critics praise above all the timeless storyline of Like a Dragon: Ishin taking place in a historical setting . Side activities and the detailed portrayal of the city of Kyo (a fictional version of Japan's Kyoto) are also generally described in superlatives.

Mixed reviews were received for the combat system. Reviewers say that as such it is very enjoyable, and the dynamic of clashes and the many skills to unlock mean that it does not get boring too quickly. Quite a few, however, complain about the balance. Some weapons or skils are said to be too powerful, and others are not worth using at all.

However, the critique was mainly influenced by numerous bugs and glitches. Nevertheless, in this case, one can hope that Ryu ga Gotoku Studio will solve the problems through an update. Some critics have also complained about the interface, camera work and the small range of changes from the original.

Premiere of Like a Dragon: Ishin is scheduled for February 21, 2023. The title will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S.
