Lords of the West DLC for Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition Goes Live

Lords of the West - the first major expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - will be released today. It will add two new civilizations and three campaigns to the refreshed version of the iconic RTS from 2000.

IN A NUTSHELL
  1. The Lords of the West expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will launch today;
  2. It will expand the game with two new civilizations (Burgundians and Sicilians) and three campaigns (Edward Longshanks, Duchy of Burgundy and Kingdom of Sicily).

Released in November 2019, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition includes over 20 campaigns and 35 different civilizations that can be played in both free scenarios and multiplayer mode. For someone, however, this may not be enough. Such people are probably already counting down the minutes until the release of Lords of the West. Announced in November last year, the first major expansion to the refreshed version of the iconic medieval RTS from 2000 will debut on PC today.

The new expansion will introduce two new civilizations to AoE II: Definitive Edition.

The Lords of the West DLC will add two new civilizations to Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The first of them are the Burgundians. Their medieval state was located in east-central France. This nation will receive the option to sent out so-called Coustilliers - heavily armed cavalrymen - to battle. You will be able to call them to arms in the Castle in the third age.

The second civilization that will be introduced in Lords of the West are the Sicilians. They had their own kingdom in the south of the Apennine Peninsula. Those who choose to take control of them during the game will be able to recruit Serjeants - heavy infantrymen available in the second age in the so-called Donjons, new buildings available only to Sicilians, and Castles.

The new expansion to AoE II: Definitive Edition will focus primarily on European nations.

Furthermore, after installing Lords of the West DLC, three more campaigns will appear in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The first of these will enable us to follow the fate of Edward I Longshanks, King of England from 1272-1307, who during his reign struggled not only with external enemies but also internal opposition. The second will present the story of the Dukes of Burgundy and their struggle against the French. The third will tell of the adventures of the Norman mercenary Robert Guiscard and his descendants and the birth of the Kingdom of Sicily.

With such defenses, an attack from the sea won't be easy.

If the above descriptions and additional information about Lords of the West, available here, encouraged you to buy the DLC, it is available on Steam and in Microsoft Store for $9.99. Of course, to be able to run the expansion, we must have the full version of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition on a given platform.
