Mages of Mystralia: a new, spellcrafting RPG written by the creator of Forgotten Realms

An interesting action RPG was announced, written by the creator of Forgotten Realms. Mages of Mystralia features extensive spellcrafting mechanics, allowing players to create countless combinations of magical runes.

Meet Mages of Mystralia, a newly announced fantasy action RPG written by Ed Greenwood, the creator of the D&D universe of Forgotten Realms (explored by such hit RPG series like Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights) and developed by independent, Montreal-based studio Borealys Games.

Mages of Mystralia will let you play as a young sorceress named Zia, exiled because of her magical talents. The game’s main feature is spellcrafting—the player will find various magical runes with different effects, combinations of which will make up unique spells needed for fighting monsters and solving puzzles. The developer’s official website boasts about “millions of different possibilities” when it comes to spellcrafting.

Scheduled for release in 2017, Mages of Mystralia is currently being developed for PC only, but Borealys Games say it is not out of question for console versions to follow some time later. More information on the game should be revealed at next month’s PAX East, where Mages of Mystralia will be available as a playable demo.
