Marvel MMORPG in the Pipeline; I.G.I. Origins Later Than Expected

Enad Global 7 revealed that a Marvel licensed MMORPG is in development. We also learned about the future of The Lord of the Rings Online, I.G.I. Origins and DC Universe Online.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Works on an MMORPG set in Marvel universe are in progress - the title probably won't launch before 2024. Dimensional Ink is responsible for the development (i.a. DC Universe Online);
  • Shooter game I.G.I. Origins was described as a long-term project; everything indicates that the information about the release next year is already outdated;
  • There are still plans to refresh the visuals of The Lord of the Rings Online as well as releasing it on next-gen consoles.

A presentation prepared for investors by Enad Global 7 indicates that a new Marvel game is in development - it will be a high-budget MMORPG. Dimensional Ink, which is a part of American developer and publisher Daybreak Game Company, is responsible for the project.

The team led by Jack Emmert is currently engaged in works on another game about superheroes, the DC Universe Online. More about the title, dubbed Marvel MMORPG by the media, is revealed by the editors of Wccftech. The website refers to the interview conducted with the leader of Dimensional Ink in 2020.

In it, Emmert mentioned work on a new game. Although he refrained from provided any detailed information, he announced the release of a work using the capabilities of next-gen consoles - a prototype was said to be available at that time. In the same conversation, the developer admitted that he is a big supporter of the free-to-play model, which may indicate what path his title will follow. However, we still have to wait for the official details.

In the broadcast accompanying the presentation, the acting CEO of Enad Global 7, Ji Ham, said that Marvel MMORPG is the biggest and most exciting project in the company's history. However, we will not find out about it soon, because it is described as "long-term" project, so most likely it will launch no earlier than 2024.

Interestingly, a similar fate will also befell the tactical shooter game I.G.I. Origins, which was supposed to be released next year. This title will be a prequel to the series of spy FPSs, the action of which will take players to the 80s of the last century. In a document prepared by Enad Global 7 the game was described as a "realistic Metal Gear Solid".

The presentation also confirms previous reports about the future of The Lord of the Rings Online, which is to receive visuals, provide players with more interesting experiences and appear on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. The purpose of the refresh is to attract people interested in Amazon' s big-budget TV adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. Also the aforementioned DC Universe Online can expect a visual overhaul.
