Meet Dodger, the hero of Visceral’s Star Wars action game

Fans of Star Wars universe are eagerly waiting for news regarding Visceral’s upcoming Star Wars action game. Although there isn’t too much official info on the project, a recent leak gives details on the story and new hero.

MakingStarWars.net has shared some interesting details on the story and new hero of the upcoming Star Wars action game in development by Visceral Games (Dead Space creators). This is the one that Amy Henning, the former writer of the Uncharted series, is working on. Note, however, that the information does not come from official sources and it may, to some extent, spoil the joy of discovering the story on your own.

The Old Trilogy, a new hero

Visceral’s Star Wars game, referred to as Project Ragtag, is reportedly set after the events in A New Hope and right before The Empire Strikes Back. One of the game’s protagonists is a man nicknamed Dodger (played by Todd Stashwick), because he “dodged the draft into Imperial service” and hid within criminal underground, somewhere in the Outer Rim. Han Solo fans will probably going to like him, as he is described as charming and a fast talk – although it was noted that Dodger is not just another variation on the famous smuggler.

Dodger’s life gets even more messy when his home planet Alderaan is destroyed and he gets on Empire’s wanted “survivors list”. Soon after that the Emperor turns his attention to the Outer Rim, seeking revenge on the Rebels who destroyed the first Death Star. The impending danger evokes turmoil among local criminals – some siding with the Empire, some willing to work for the Rebellion. As for our hero, he decides to work for Jabba the Hutt in order to be able to bribe himself out of the wanted list. In the course of his mission, however, “Dodger finds something terrifying about what the Empire wants to do with the weapon that hits close to home and forces him to confront his past and the destruction of his home-world head on”.

In combat Dodger will use light whip/grapple stick to immobilize his enemies and then finish them off with his blaster (the game is to offer many variations of these weapons). Another thing that sets him apart from Han Solo is his motivation: Dodger’s drive to stand in the way of the Empire is t prevent a catastrophe and solve the mystery behind his mentor’s death.

More leaks about the plot are to arrive soon. As for the game itself, it is planned to launch in 2018.
