In 14 Days Modern Warfare 2 Earned Almost as Much as Previous CoD for a Year

All the time we have information flowing in, showing the scale of success achieved by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The latest concern the European market.

1. According to analytical group GSD in Europe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is already just short of beating the combined sales figures of its predecessor, namely Call of Duty: Vanguard, on this continent.
2. This means that after a mere two weeks CoD: MW2 is one step away from surpassing the annual sales figures of the earlier title (which debuted on November 5, 2021).
3. Interestingly, in the first week after its release alone CoD: Modern Warfare 2 did 125% better than CoD: Vanguard. This is already an impressive achievement, and on top of that, all the data suggests that shortly after its debut, sales of the latter saw big drops and, unlike most installments, the game did not find many new buyers for months to come.

Although the above data is only about the European market, it is probably similar in other regions. Activision Blizzard recently boasted, that revenues from CoD: Modern Warfare 2 exceeded $1 billion within 10 days of its release. This made the game the fastest earning installment of the series. The previous record holder was Call of Duty: Black Ops II from 2012, which took 15 days to break that mark.

The game is also doing well on Steam, where it quickly set a new activity record for the series at 263,174 concurrent users. The previous record holder was Call of Duty: Black Ops III with 63,681 people playing simultaneously.

Recall that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game was released on October 28, this year.
