Following the announcement of The Duskbloods, a new game by the creators of Dark Souls and Elden Ring, conversations have continued regarding its exclusive future release on the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Online hints suggest this title might be a temporary exclusive for the Japanese giant.

Genki, a Japan-based content creator related to games and associated with PowerUnlimited, stumbled upon interesting information. In a thread published on his profile on X, he indicated that the owner of The Duskbloods brand is FromSoftware itself. Besides, the game is set to be released in Japan by this studio, while outside by Nintendo. This reminds of the arrangement that "Big N" had with Square Enix.

Genki noticed that this situation is more reminiscent of Nintendo's collaboration with Square Enix on Octopath Traveler or Live A Live, rather than Bayonetta 2 and 3, which was unique in terms of the contract (Nintendo also released it in Japan). Despite this, as he admits, the exact records of the agreement between FromSoftware and Nintendo remain unknown. However, if the clues point in the right direction, The Duskbloods could potentially reach other platforms in the future.

Octopath Traveler was first released on Nintendo Switch in 2018, and less than a year later, it landed on PC (it eventually also hit Xbox and PlayStation). The remake of the cult classic Live A Live launched on Switch in 2022, and then appeared on PlayStation 4, PS5, and PC in 2023. Bayonetta 2 first came out on Wii U in 2014, and received another version in 2018, this time exclusively for the Switch. The latest installment of the series, Bayonetta 3, also remains an exclusive title of the Nintendo.

The Duskbloods is a new brand from FromSoftware, created by Hidetaka Miyazaki himself. The game will be released in 2026 and, at least initially, will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. The title will be a multiplayer RPG (PvPvE) for up to eight players. The trailer presented during Nintendo Direct immediately reminded fans of Bloodborne.

The limited availability of the game caused quite a stir, especially among PC gamers, who have been waiting for years for the port of the aforementioned Bloodborne. Now that FromSoftware has announced the spiritual successor to this hit, the renewed exclusivity seems to be crying out for vengeance.
