New Pokemon Snap Arrives on the Switch on April 30th

In a new trailer showcasing entirely new environments and a plethora of Pokemon, The Pokemon Company announced that the upcoming New Pokemon Snap will arrive on April 30th.

In a new trailer released yesterday, The Pokemon Company announced the upcoming New Pokemon Snap, will release for the Switch on April 30th, 2021, and is available for pre-order now. It has been nearly 22 years since the original Pokemon Snap released for the Nintendo 64.

In this new game the player, who will actually have a choice this time between a boy and girl avatar, will explore the Lental Region, a series of islands containing 200 different Pokemon across several different habitats.

Professor Mirror has tasked you with creating a photo-dex of all the Pokemon in the archipelago, but don’t worry, you’ll have your trusty pod, the NEO-ONE to keep you safe. This is the upgraded version of the original ZERO-ONE from the Nintendo 64 game, a vehicle that brings you along a path through the environment.

But the professor also has a more important task for you, there have been some strange and mysterious happenings on the islands. Something called Illumina, where plants and Pokemon glow with a strange light. This phenomenon hasn’t been seen anywhere else. The professor would like you to uncover the mystery of why this is happening.

The new trailer showcases many Pokemon not yet in Sword & Shield as well, raising questions about when or if these Pokemon will make it into the main games. But perhaps that question will be answered in the coming months as Pokemon continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Get your camera, New Pokemon Snap releases on April 30th, 2021, and pre-orders are available now. Are you excited to take on this new adventure? Leave a comment letting us know what you think!
