Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide. This result was achieved in just four days from the global launch, which took place on June 5, 2025.
According to the announcement, this is the best sales of any Nintendo hardware in a similar four-day post-launch period in history.
Nintendo Switch 2 is not only the fastest-selling console in the company's history, but according to analyst Daniel Ahmad, it is also the fastest-selling home console of all time. To illustrate the scale of success, it's worth noting that in just four days, the new console achieved sales that constituted a quarter of the total multi-year sales of the Wii U (over four years, this platform found 13.56 million buyers).
The performance of the Nintendo Switch 2 is impressive compared to other popular consoles from recent years. For example, it took about a month for PlayStation 5 to sell around 3.4 million units, and it reached 4.5 million units in about two months. On the other hand, the first Switch sold 2.7 million units in about a month after its release. PlayStation 4 sold 1 million units in 24 hours, and exceeded the threshold of 2.1 million after 15 days.
