Not Just RGB; Dedicated Mouse Cooling is Coming

For some time now, new features in computer mice have boiled down to better sensors, buttons and RGB. Maybe it's time for something new?

The solution for sweaty hands is within our grasp?

I guess everyone used to use a computer mouse for some purpose - to play, or just to navigate the system and applications, but for some of us it's not the most comfortable thing to do. We're talking about people with sweaty hands. For some time now, there have been special models of "rodents" that have special profiles, or a "honeycomb" structure - one where there is less plastic surface adhering to the palm. It is not entirely clear whether and how effective these solutions are, but apparently Zephyr believes it can create something better.

Enter the company's new "anti-sweat" mouse, cooled by a built-in fan. The mouse is due to debut on Kickstarter on July 22. It will have the aforementioned honeycomb casing, under which a fan will be placed. Its speed will be adjustable from 4000 to 10000 rpm (of course, it will also be possible to completely turn off the airflow). In addition, it will be equipped with RGB backlight with adjustable color, recognised Omron switches (estimated life expectancy is as much as 50 million clicks), a button to change the DPI (in the range between 100 and 16 000), two side buttons (most probably "back" and "forward") and the PixArt PMW 3389 sensor known from such mice as the Cooler Master MM710 (on which the design of Zephyr's mouse is clearly based) or HyperX Pulsefire FPS Pro, some really decent "rodents". The manufacturer claims that the fan is to be very quiet and the whole design is not to collect too many fingerprints.

As for the price, the "super early bird" option guarantees that we will pay only $79. If you're wondering if this is an innovative and fresh idea, we can assure you it is, because the only mouse with a fan that the Internet knows is Thermaltake's 2012 Cyclone project, with an outside fan. The important question remains - how durable will the fan be and whether it will be possible to replace it, or at least have some easy way to clean it from the dust that the open design of the mouse will undoubtedly collect. In general, the project seems interesting, I kno some gamers whose hands sweat regardless of the mouse they use, and maybe this is a step towards solving their problem?
