The premiere of the sequel to the jRPG Octopath Traveller will not take place until February 24, 2023, but we already have a chance to read the reviews. It looks like the second part continues the brand's good run, as it has already topped the ratings of its predecessor.

On Metacritic Octopath Traveller II has an average rating of 86/100 based on 24 texts. Here are some sample review scores:

Justifying their ratings, the reviewers call Octopath Traveller II an ideal representative of its genre. The continuation of the series does not drastically deviate from the original, providing a solid sequel that will satisfy fans of the original. Among the best elements of the game, the reviewers unanimously point out the engaging story, enjoyable and challenging combat system, as well as graphics and sound design.

If this critically acclaimed brand is not yet familiar to you, the simplest way to describe Octopath Traveller is to say that it is an jRPG, telling the parallel stories of eight protagonists set in a steampunk fantasy world.

Taking on the role of one of the characters, players experience unique adventures, form alliances with other characters and take part in tactical battles. All this is enveloped in pixel art graphics, presented in isometric HD-2D view.

In the case of the first part of Octopath Traveller ratings from critics and players overlapped almost perfectly (on Metacritic the average rating of reviewers is 83/100, and players 8.4/10).

Octopath Traveller II will debut in a week, but it is already available for pre-order on Steam, Epic Games and Nintendo Switch and PlayStation stores. A free demo, giving you a chance to try out the prologue, is available on all platforms. Steam and Epic Games also provide the game's system requirements for the PC version.
