Outstanding strategy series received a fan remaster. A few original devs helped create Myth: Twice Born Edition
The fan project Myth: Twice Born Edition has been released. This is an unofficial remaster of the first two installments of the cult fantasy strategy series. The creation of the project was possible thanks to the help of several people from Bungie.

The Myth series has been dormant for two decades—but only officially, as throughout all these years, it has been diligently developed by fans. Now, their work has culminated in the release of Myth: Twice Born Edition.
This is a mod that essentially serves as a remaster of Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth II: Soulblighter, and the Myth II: Chimera expansion.
- The modification is built upon the foundations of the popular Project Magma (which means you first need to install the latest version of that mod—1.8.5). This ensures full compatibility with modern PCs, including support for high widescreen resolutions. Additionally, the first part of the series now incorporates gameplay and control improvements introduced in the second installment.
- The mod remasters all graphical elements. Long ago, the team responsible for Project Magma released refreshed textures, but it wasn’t an ideal solution, as they didn’t fully match the non-remastered unit sprites. Myth: Twice Born Edition eliminates that issue by refreshing literally every aspect of the graphical presentation.
A full remaster of the game was made possible thanks to a fan known as John God, who received help from current and former employees of Bungie. They provided him with all the production archives from the first two installments of the series. The modder spent a total of 16 years refreshing every element contained within them.
It took so long because these resources were created in the 1990s using archaic (from a modern standpoint) applications. To complete the project, the creator had to write his own instructions for some of these tools and learn how to use old, unsupported programs across various operating systems. However, the effort was worthwhile, as the final result is outstanding.
Ultimately, the mod is on par with an official remaster. This comes as no surprise, since that was its original intent. Myth: Twice Born Edition was initially being developed as a commercial release under the Nightdive Studios brand. Unfortunately, Take-Two Interactive—the rights holder—changed its mind at the last moment. John God then decided to release it for free as a mod
