PS5 - Rumors of Full Backwards Compatibility With PS4

Will we be able to run all PS4 games on Sony's new PlayStation 5? So it would seem according to the information provided on Twitter by the user who modifies video games.

PS5 will have the ability to run games from PS4
IN A NUTSHELL:
  • On Twitter, there is an entry about the compatibility of PS4 games with the new PS5 console.

Sony's new PlayStation 5 may be compatible with all PS4 games. Official information claims that we will only run selected older titles on the PS5. But would this change and Sony could actually be working on the ability to play all PS4 titles on the new hardware?

Twitter user Lance McDonald's post contained such news. "Contained" as it was removed by the author himself. Therefore, we cannot embed the source of the entry here. A screenshot can be found below.

Lance McDonald has some achievements in dismantling Dark Souls and modifying games. He forced Bloodborne to run at 60 FPS on the console. On his Discord server, when asked if the source of this information was reliable, he replied affirmatively.

Lance's answer to the question about the Twitter entry

The question remains as to why the information was removed. Lance wrote on Twitter that this is about "respect for platform owners". Maybe he did so because of the great interest in the entry and the possibility of websites spreading (in)voluntary misinformation. This should be emphasized: Lance said that the PS5 may run all the games on the PS4, not that it will run them all. That's up to Sony.
