PUBG Lite Will be Shut Down

PUBG Lite will end its life soon. The free version of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds will be shut down at the end of April.

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds remains one of the most popular games on Steam, but there's no denying that its best days are long behind it. Another proof for this may be Krafton's decision to close the free beta of PUBG Lite. The end of the "lighter" brother of PUBG will come on April 29, although there will still be support for players for a month after that date. However, the option to download the game was blocked yesterday.

The message on Playerunknown's Battlegrounds' official website does not mention the reasons for this decision. PUBG Lite was gradually made available as part of the beta since the beginning of 2019. At that time, the game still included microtransactions, which were eventually abandoned in November 2020. Perhaps this was already a preparation for the end of support, although this is just pure speculation.
