We won't go to the movie theaters for a new Batman until mid-2021.

Warner Bros decided that Robert Pattinson will play the leading role in the upcoming Batman film. The director of the latest part of the Dark Knight's adventures will be Matt Reeves, who has also directed the War for the Planet of the Apes.

A new Batman trilogy?

According to Deadline, the studio decided to bet on Pattinson after a series of trial photos, during which Nicholas Hoult, known from Mad Max: Fury Road, was also tested for the role. The rivalry between the actors was very fierce, but eventually "Rob" ended as the final choice. Deadline also reports that Warner Bros is planning to create not just one film, but a whole Batman trilogy with Pattinson, which is soon to be officially announced.

Robert Pattinson is known primarily for his role as Edward in the Twilight series. He has also appeared in two Harry Potter films, where he played the role of Cedric Diggory. Recently, he has been featured in several independent productions such as Good Time, High Life and The Lighthouse. Pattinson will also appear in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Tenet, which is currently in production.

The new Batman is to be released on June 25, 2021. Work on the film has been going on for several years and initially Ben Affleck was to be the director and the main actor. However, the famous actor resigned and later admitted in an interview that he couldn't work out a shared vision with the screenwriter.
