The latest rumors indicate that FromSoftware is working on a yet unannounced title. The codename of the project suggests that it could be Dark Souls 3 Remastered.
FromSoftware certainly cannot complain about a lack of work. The Japanese studio recently released Elden Ring: Nightreign, for which a DLC is being prepared, and also announced an exclusive game for the Nintendo Switch 2 console titled The Duksbloods. The latest rumors, however, suggest that the masters of soulslike are quietly working on yet another, unannounced project.
MP1st reported that a multiplatform game with the code name FMC is in an advanced stage of development. Also, if there are no delays, we should get it by next year at the latest.
Unfortunately, the outlet was unable to find out exactly what this project is, but the author of the article ventured to conduct a small investigation. By looking at the previous code game titles from FromSoftware, we can draw some conclusions.
The possibility that FMC is just a DLC has been ruled out from the start, as expansions use the same code names as the full games. The Duskbloods was also out of the question because it is an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Looking at the aforementioned names, it is easy to see that the code names starting with the letter F pertain to games from the Dark Souls series and Armored Core VI.
Considering that both the first Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 have already received their updated versions, and Miyazaki isn't interested in making a fourth installment, it seems most likely that a remake or remaster of Dark Souls 3 is on the way.
The credibility of this option is boosted by the fact that last year, industry insider Nick "Shpeshal Nick" Baker said that Dark Souls 3 Remastered is in the works. In March next year, the game will celebrate its tenth anniversary since its release.
Of course, these are just speculations, so they shouln't be taken for granted. FMC could equally well be the next installment in the Armored Core series or a completely different project. However, if it's really going to be released next year, we shouldn't have to wait too long to confirm or debunk this rumor.
