Developers from Ukrainian studio Frogwares have released a touching video in which they explain the reasons for the several-week release delay suffered by Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened.
Remake of the 2006 game Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened was expected to debut sometime in February or March. Unfortunately the release of this adventure game starring the famous detective has just been delayed to March/April 2023.. The reason for the postponement is the reality of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which the developers from Frogwares have to deal with. In the video they shared (below), we can learn more about their current situation.
As one of the developers explains:
"After a series of humiliating defeats on the battlefield, Russia has changed its strategy. Every week or two it unleashes a hail of missiles on our cities, targeting the energy infrastructure and killing dozens of civilians in the process."
Therefore the developers of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened have to face random power outages. Sometimes they don't have access to electricity in their own apartments, and sometimes in the office, so they have to change their workplace frequently. This turn of events causes the developers to spend much longer over some segments than they should, also because not everyone has access to the Internet at the same time.
Besides, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is being developed for several different platforms, which adds to the Ukrainian studio's workload. So far no specific release date has been given for the game, but it is expected to be released in late March or early April this year. The developers said that when they conclude that the game is about a month away from completion, they will announce the exact release date.
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will come out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch consoles, as well as PCs..
