Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter debuts this May

Bigben Interactive and Frogwares have announced release date of upcoming detective adventure game Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter.

Bigben Interactive have announced the release date of Sherlock Holmes: The Devils Daughter, the latest entry in the detective adventure game series developed by Frogwares. The game will go on sale on the 27th of May, this year. The creators are developing PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions, and the title will see a simultaneous release on all intended platforms.

As a reminder, Sherlock Holmes: the Devil’s Daughter is the eight installment in the franchise and a direct sequel to the 2014’s Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, which was a reboot of sorts for the whole franchise. It depicted the adventures of a younger Sherlock Holmes, and several gameplay mechanics were significantly modified. Furthermore, the developers have dropped their proprietary game engine in favor of the Unreal Engine technology.

The game will further enhance and develop the ideas featured in Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter will follow in the footsteps of its prequel and offer five different cases to solve, instead of one, bigger. The game reprises its unique system of decisions and consequences, which will allow us to significantly influence plot developments. The authors have promised a wide array of clever puzzles requiring us to employ Holmes’ deduction skills. Sometimes, to take a break from riddles, we will be faced with challenges that will require more dexterity than wits. What’s worth noting, during this campaign for the first time Holmes may find it difficult keeping his emotions under control, as the cases at hand will not be irrelevant to his own family, making him occasionally unable to control his anger and desire for revenge.

We’ve got high expectations of the game. Crimes and Punishments introduced numerous intriguing changes, but they didn’t always live up to their full potential. The game’s main drawback were its puzzles, which were way too easy to solve, as well as irritating mini-games, introduced to stretch the campaign. Thus, we hope that the creators will listen to the voice of the community, and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter will be free of such issues.
