Take-Two Interactive has announced that it has already sold over 5.5 million copies of Sid Meier's Civilization VI strategy. Thus, the production was the fastest selling part of the series.

Firaxis Games employees have reasons to be satisfied. Take-Two Interactive, the studio's owner, boasted sales of more than 5.5 million copies of Sid Meier's Civilization VI. This makes the game the fastest selling part of the cycle.
Sid Meier's Civilization V remains the leader in overall sales in the series, with over 8 million buyers. However, given the record-breaking sales of the sixth installment, it seems that the fifth part of the series won't be sitting on the throne for long.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI was released in October 2016 on PCs. A year later, the production was ported to iOS and then Nintendo Switch. The production has been warmly received. PC version has an average score of 86% on Metacritic.
So far, the game has received two large expansions. Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Rise and Fall was released last leay, and six months ago we got Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Gathering Storm.
The games of the series most often receive only two major expansions, but this time it may be different. A few days ago, there were reports that Firaxis Games was considering developing a third expansion. This is no surprise, as Gathering Storm is the best earning expansion in the history of the Civilization franchise.
