Star Wars Eclipse Will be Different From Detroit; David Cage Explains

Quantic Dream's CEO makes new promises and assures that Star Wars Eclipse will be different from the studio's previous titles, but at the same time will retain the fan-loved formula.

In an interview given to IGN Japan, David Cage, founder of Quantic Dream studio, touched on the upcoming Star Wars: Eclipse. The conversation included comparisons to the developer's previous title - Detroit: Become Human.

By now we knew that the game from the Star Wars universe set in the era of the Great Republic is expected to have an elaborate storyline and simple gameplay mechanics that are inherent to all titles by Cage and company, which he confirmed in an interview back in September. Now, however he has dared to call Star Wars: Eclipse "the most ambitious project in the studio's history."

David thus addressed the allegation, in which Internet users hailed Eclipse as the second Detroit: Become Human with altered visuals. The two games share a story, depicting a future society, but in his opinion, the similarities end there:

"I don't recognize Detroit: Become Human as a sci-fi game. In my opinion, it's more of a prediction. It's a storyline set in the near future. We spent a lot of time imagining the world 10, 15, 20 years from now."

This means that the dark vision of a near future filled with self-aware androids was designed with a completely different focus than the adventures in a galaxy far, far away that undeniably defined the science fiction genre.

Star Wars Eclipse will be Quantic Dream's first-ever title based on an existing universe, but Cage stresses that the entire team is approaching the project with the same passion as one of their original stories.

Developer did not answer questions asked about the details that will show such a drastically different game setting. This is not surprising, since Star Wars: Eclipse doesn't even have an approximate release date yet, and details of elaborate stories are the most important element attracting players to Quantic Dream's titles.
