New Tales From the Borderlands Game Announced

The second part of Tales from the Borderlands is being created. Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced that the game will offer new adventures and characters.

With the demise of Telltale Games, even the most wishful rumors about the game have died, and yet - Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced that the second installment of Tales from the Borderlands is in production.

So far, all that has been revealed is that the upcoming title will offer a new story and characters but we can expect fresh information soon. This is according to Randy Pitchford - founder and CEO of Gearbox - who told during today's panel at PAX East that the title has been "quietly" in development for several years now, and its full announcement will come in the summer. The release date is expected to be no later than December 2022.

That's when we should also get confirmation whether it will be a direct sequel to Tales from the Borderlands or - more likely - a completely separate story. We will also learn the platforms on which the title will be released, although it can be expected that these will be PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S.

Two things seem certain. Firstly, that the recently reactivated Telltale Games - so in a way the authors of the original - does not participate in works on this game. Secondly, that characters, which we will meet in it, sooner or later will find themselves in main series - just like several characters from the first Tales from the Borderlands have made their way into Borderlands 3. Pitchford said it was a good - and well-liked by the studio - way to introduce new characters to the universe.
