The Baldur's Gate 3-inspired fan-made mod to Stardew Valley is now out. Even Swen Vincke is impressed with it

The characters of Baldur's Gate 3 have arrived in the world of Stardew Valley, but for now players can romance only one of the more than 20 characters from the ambitious fan-made DLC.

The characters from Baldur's Gate 3 have finally arrived in Stardew Valley in the long-awaited mod of the popular indie game by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone.

The project announced in April 2024 immediately sparked interest. It's hard to be surprised, considering the popularity of both titles - and the characters of the third Baldur’s Gate themselves. It's not that Larian Studios neglected the romance options, but apparently, someone thought it would be nice to meet Astarion and company in a slightly quieter area.

This is Baldur's village available in the Baldur's Village mod, which has already hit Nexus Mods.

The modification isn't yet complete, because although it adds over 20 "beautifully drawn characters" and 6 locations, as well as events inspired by BG 3, as announced almost a year ago - for now, you can only romance one character: Astarion. Next in line is Halsin, to the surprise and amusement of fans, who also appreciated the work of the modders (via Reddit).

Of course, some players chose to delay installing the mod until the "essential" additions (meaning: romance with their favorites) were included. Nonetheless, the project sparked considerable enthusiasm and it may unite fans of both series - just like the "friendship" of Isabelle and Doomguy united fans of the Doom and Animal Crossing series (via Rock, Paper, Shotgun).

The mod was appreciated by none other than Swen Vincke himself. The head of Larian Studios expressed appreciation for the passion the team put into the project in a post published on X. In response, Xun He, one of the three main modders working on Baldur's Village, thanked him. (By the way: Vincke also appeared in the game, although not as an NPC).

Baldur's Village - installation

The mod (already downloaded over 10 thousand times) requires three other modifications to run: SMAPI, Content Patcher, and Potraiture. Installing Baldur's Village involves downloading two folders from Nexus Mods, unpacking them and moving them to the appropriate Steam folder: Steam/Common/Stardew Valley/Mods for "Baldur's Village" and Steam/Common/Stardew Valley/Mods/Portraiture/Portraits. Next, the game should be launched through SMAPI (from the Steam/Common/Stardew Valley/StardewModdingAPI folder).

You can find more information on the project card on Nexus Mods, and you can support the team through Patreon or Ko-Fi. There will also be surveys regarding future additions to this modification.
