New Game From Beholder 3 Devs Will Have us Tracking Nazi Crimes

Paintbucket Games has announced a new game called The Darkest Files. In this title, the player will be engaged in the pursuit of Nazi criminals 11 years after the end of World War II. The developers have not provided an expected release date.

Developers of Beholder 3 and Through the Darkest of Times are once again tackling a difficult subject. German studio Paintbucket Games has informed of its new game. The Darkest Files will take on the theme of pursuing unaccounted for Nazi criminals from the World War II period.. The game's authors have promised consistency with history, so the player will be engaged in investigations that took place in reality. Investigations are to be carried out from the stage of collecting evidence and faithful reconstruction of events to the finale in court, where you have to prove your accusations.

The creators have decided to go for a comic book-like look. The action will be observed from a first-person perspective. Along with the announcement, a trailer for The Darkest Files was made available:

The Darkest Files will be set in Frankfurt, West Germany 11 years after the end of World War II. The Attorney General of Hesse, Fritz Bauer, has set up a special unit of young investigators. We will play the role of a member of this group - Esther Katz - and the story is to intertwine the personal and professional threads of our heroine.

Paintbucket Games has not announced the release date of The Darkest Files nor its expected price. The game will be available in two languages with dubbing - English and German. In addition, it will provide full controller support, despite its planned for release exclusively on personal computers.

The Darkest Files - system requirements

System requirements of The Darkest Files may be subject to change before the game's release. The developers have provided only the basic information about hardware that will enbale us to run the game, so you can expect them to be updated over time.

  • Processor: any 64-bit
  • Graphics card: DirectX10 compatible

Recall that this German studio has so far created the games Beholder 3 and Through the Darkest of Times. In Beholder 3 we dealt with the surveillance of the residents of an apartment building in cooperation with the totalitarian government. The story was inspired by the works of George Orwell, the creator of, among other things, 1984 and Animal Farm. In Through the Darkest of Times on the other hand, we acted as the leader of the German Resistance during the Third Reich period, i.e. from 1933 to 1945.

Paintbucket Games was founded by former employees of Yager Development. This developer became famous for the controversial Spec Ops: The Line, which was admittedly somewhat mediocre in terms of gameplay, but made up for it with an original, mature approach to depicting war as hell.
