The 10th birthday is approaching for The Elder Scrolls Online. For almost a decade since its release, the title has been played by more than 22 million people. Matt Firor, the director of the company responsible for the game, ZeniMax Online Studios, wrote in a letter to the community that 2 million players have joined the game in 2023 alone - and that's not counting people who picked up the title for free in Epic Game Store. He also thanked everyone who has made the game a huge success over the years.

The Elder Scrolls Online was available for free on EGS this July. The event resulted in the highest monthly number of active players since 2015.

2023 brought The Elder Scrolls Online two new expansions: the smaller Scribes of Fate and the larger Necrom. Players received a new PvE mode. The developers also managed to improve the stability of the servers.

A lavish celebration for ESO's 10th birthday

Celebrations to mark the game's 10th birthday are scheduled to last from April 4, 2024 (the anniversary of the PC/Mac release) to June 2025 (the anniversary of the console version's debut). The developers have planned many events for this time, not only in the game world.

What can we expect?

  • January 2024 - show focused on the future of The Elder Scrolls Online.
  • April 5-6, 2024 - two-day event in Amsterdam. The schedule includes: developer panels, discussions and a cosplay contest.
  • July 13-14, 2024 - The Elder Scrolls Online tavern in Germany.
  • 2025 - a major event in the US.

A reminder that work is underway on the next game in the series. Release date of The Elder Scrolls VI has not yet been announced, but fans of the series will soon receive numerous attractions - in addition to global celebrations in Amsterdam and the US, the developers have planned a number of local events. We should learn more details soon.

The Elder Scrolls Online came out on April 4, 2014 for PC, and a year later on June 9 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. On June 15, 2021, the game received versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
