Legendary publisher from 1990s returns. „We'll support indie developers and reignite classic franchises,” Acclaim executives say
Acclaim, a publisher popular especially in the 1990s, is making a comeback. The company wants to resurrect its classic brands, and a well-known wrestler will help.

Older players probably remember the Acclaim company, which triumphed in the 1990s. The next decade turned out to be much worse for it and the publisher declared bankruptcy in 2004. Now, after 21 years, its return has been announced.
- New Acclaim intends to collaborate with independent developers. Many of these projects aim to revive the classic brands of this company. It closely mirrors the path chosen by another recently "revived" publisher, MicroProse, which is involved in both releasing entirely new titles and reviving some old series in collaboration with indie developers.
- Interestingly, Jeff Jarrett, a renowned American wrestling athlete and co-founder of the company Global Force Entertainment, plays a key role in Acclaim's return. This is a very good combination because Acclaim was known, among other things, for games of this theme, starting with WWF WrestleMania, released in 1989 for the 8-bit NES console.

Jarrett commented on this as follows:
For more than three decades, I’ve had the privilege to have been a part of both the wrestling and gaming universes, and I’m thrilled to now be a partner in the revival of Acclaim. From my early involvement with the publisher's hit 16-bit WWF titles to my experience helping shape the TNA Wrestling series, which spawned the first video game wrestler to become a full-time roster member in the Squared Circle, I've seen first-hand the type of impact great games can have on players and fans. Resurrecting Acclaim is an opportunity to impart the same degree of passion and love to a new generation, and I'm excited to be involved.
It seems very likely that among the upcoming games from the new Acclaim, there will be some wrestling games. Many of the company's most important brands, such as Mortal Kombat, Turok, and Shadow Man, are already in the hands of other publishers. Therefore, we're curious about what the first announced titles of the resurrected Acclaim will be.
