Broken Remaster of The Outer Worlds Getting Patched; Some Players Must Wait

The problematic remaster of The Outer Worlds has received its first major update. Patch 1.1 focuses on performance and stability issues. However, some players have to wait for the patch.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition, a revamped version of the space RPG by Obsidian Entertainment (originally released in 2019), met with a really cold reception from gamers.

Developed in cooperation with Virtuos, the current-gen console port sparked controversy even before its release, when it was revealed that owners of the old version of the game would have to pay extra $10 to enjoy the new edition.

However, the real wave of criticism fell on the game after its release, on March 7. This is because it turned out that Spacer's Choice Edition suffers from grave optimization problems, manifesting on all platforms. However, the situation is slowly improving.

First changes for the better

Aware of the problems with the new version of The Outer Worlds Obsidian Entertainment has apologized for the game's condition on the day of its release, and announced the arrival of an update to fix a number of problems plaguing the game.

The aforementioned update hit the first players on Friday. As we read on the official website of the publisher, Private Division, the patch, marked 1.1, is supposed to be an answer to some of the most troublesome pains that the players have faced. Among the proposed changes were:

  1. adjusted settings for Ultra and Very High graphics modes, improving the experience for PC gamers with higher-end GPUs,
  2. updated dynamic resolution performance on PC,
  3. improved frame rates for performance modes in console versions of the game,
  4. resolved issues of occasional crashes in console versions.

There are, of course, many more changes, and those interested in the full list of improvements can read them on the publisher's website.

Update not yet for everyone

Importantly, update 1.1 is so far only available on PC and PlayStation 5. Players who own the Xbox version of the game, will have to wait for the patch probably until Wednesday.

The publisher assures that the just-released update is not the end of work on the title and in the future we can expect more patches to improve the performance of the problematic game.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition can be played on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
