The Witcher 4 will put emphasis on tough choices aligned with „Eastern European mentality.” Ciri will approach things differently than Geralt
The developers of The Witcher 4 say that the game will not lack very difficult and unclear choices. They also pointed out that Ciri's actions will differ from what Geralt would do.

Yesterday, CD Projekt RED studio published a video presenting the creation of the first trailer for The Witcher 4. The film was enhanced with comments from the developers, some of which also concern the entire game. They mentioned, among other things, about tough choices and pointed out the differences between Ciri and Geralt.
Shades of gray
Tomek Suwalski from Platige Image drew attention to the ambiguity of the whole adventure, which is supposed to reflect Sapkowski's way of creating the story about the Witcher. He pointed out the shades of gray, the absence of clear choices, and the "well-known lesser evil," which he believes is typical of our "Eastern European mentality." Phillipp Weber from CD Projekt RED shared his opinion.
This trailer is an adaptation of the story that we actually want to tell in the game. We're not going to give you a black or white situation. We expect you to consider some situations, make some tough choices, and as an example, the situation that may happen after the trailer is over is such a tough choice.
This "very tough choice" is most likely the way Ciri treats the villagers who murdered a girl named Mioni because of tradition. The immediate options that come to mind are to take revenge or spare them, but perhaps the developers will complicate the matter a bit more by adding more possibilities and making the choice more difficult. We will only find out about this over time.
Ciri differs from Geralt
The creators also highlighted that even though Ciri is Geralt's protege, she is a distinct character. Film director Kajetan Kapuscinski pointed out some scenes from the trailer, such as the way of fighting or the reaction to Mioni's death, and admitted that Ciri's actions are "different from those that Geralt would do."
She experiences the emotions with which she herself is connected.
Phillip Weber explains that Ciri and Mioni are in a sense "mirror reflections of each other." Both have a specific purpose, but while the first one constantly fights with it, the second one fully embraces it. Ciri is fully aware of what Mioni feels, fulfilling the village tradition.
Weber also pointed out an interesting fact: the monologue at the beginning of the trailer, delivered by the girl's father, Zhivan, was written "in a way that Geralt could say the same about Ciri." He recalls, among other things, how Mioni "grew from a curious child into an extraordinary girl full of grace, wisdom, and kindness."
