The Wolf Among Us 2 Has New Engine and Old Devs

The creators of The Wolf Among Us 2 resigned from the old technologies used by Telltale Games and opted for the Unreal Engine. In addition, we learned that the dev team includes the most important staff from the first part of the project.

We'll wait a lot longer for The Wolf Among Us 2.

During this year's The Game Awards gala , The Wolf Among Us 2, a continuation of the popular episodic adventure game from 2013, was announced. Now, thanks to an article on USGamer, we have learned a few new things about this project.

It has been known for a few days that the creators started working from scratch, instead of trying to finish the project that was in production when Telltale Games closed in 2018. The new information is that the old graphic engine has been abandoned in favor of Unreal Engine.

The departure from Telltale Tool technology is not surprising, because it was reportedly not developer-friendly and made production much more difficult. However, Telltale Games intended to switch to the Unity engine before closing, starting with the cancelled Stranger Things project, so betting on Unreal Engine in the case of The Wolf Among Us 2 is a bit surprising.

Recall that AdHoc Studio is working on the game, assisted by the resurrected Telltale Games. Fans should be pleased to know that the first of these teams includes many veterans that worked on The Wolf Among Us, including the main designers Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart and the main scriptwriter Pierre Shorette. All three left Telltale Games in 2017 before work on the sequel began. No wonder that the creators decided to start from scratch, instead of continuing the work of their successors.

In addition, the most important actors will return. Adam Harrington will lend the voice of Bigby Wolf again, and Erin Yvette will reprise her role as Snow White.

Recall that The Wolf Among Us 2 is coming to PC and consoles. The launch will take place in 2021 at the earliest. It's worth noting that the first part of the series is now available for free on Epic Games Store.
