Trepang2, whose ambition was to fill the void left by the F.E.A.R. series, debuts today on PC. While the game is unlikely to scare anyone, it looks like a solid, spectacular and meaty old-style shooter.
Today Trepang2, an old-school FPS from the independent team at Trepang Studios, will hit the PC. The ambition of the developers was to deliver a spiritual successor to the F.E.A.R. series and although their work does not contains moments in which we will feel shivers running down our spine, it seems that the developers have managed to create a spectacular and fun old-school shooter.
The first reviewers have already had the opportunity to check out Trepang2 and review the game. On Metacritic, the average score that the game received from industry media is 77/100. On OpenCritic on the other hand, the item in question recorded a slightly worse score of 74/100. Sample ratings are as follows:
Reviewers praise the title above all for its fast-paced, impressive and bloody action, gunplay that gives a lot of satisfaction, as well as for the visuals and visual effects accompanying the shootouts. Another strong point of the game is the ability to slow down time. In addition, at times the AI of opponents can also positively surprise.
As the reviewer from GamingBolt wrote:
"Trepang2 doesn't care too much about the story. Instead, it just wants to give you some weapons, the ability to slow down time and simply pits you against corrupt corporations and a shady cult. It [the game - ed. note] features a fantastic shooting system and excellent enemy AI (...), and despite the visual mess, you'll probably have fun."
Here are some more system requirements of Trepang2.
