Ubisoft has made unexpected changes to the Steam store pages of 9 games in the Assassin's Creed series. The community is wondering what this could mean.
Ubisoft might have hinted (once again) to the gaming community that a remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is on the way. According to the change history of the game on Steam, the French company kind of announced today that they are adding six new features to the popular 2013 title.
Some fans speculate that the following elements may be related to preparing the original game store page for the arrival of the remake. It's been enriched today with new categories:
Right now, these changes only allow you to search for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag among other productions in the store, which offer the same features. In the future, they should definitely be implemented, but so far, Black Flag doesn't even allow playing with just a mouse. So it can be assumed that we are not dealing only with a cosmetic change on the Steam store page, especially since these tags have existed on the Valve platform for a long time.
What's interesting, as noticed by The Hidden One, who informed about the changes, the mentioned tags appeared not only on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag's Steam page. All major installments of the series released after 2014 - Unity, Rogue, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, and Shadows - also received these elements (or more). Of course, some of the games mentioned have been offering at least some of these features for a while, but others haven't, or at least didn't have all of them. So, Ubisoft is probably "quietly" updating the pages of their titles, and also slightly updating the games themselves, just like they added achievements to some of them a while ago.
The developer has already teased the fans several times, but ultimately didn't announce a remake of Black Flag. In May of this year, a symbolic post was published on the company's account on X , and actor Matt Ryan, who played the main character in the fourth installment, was giving fans suggestions in June about refreshing the game. Moreover, at the beginning of July, another suggestive post from the series was published on social media.
Also, this year's Ubisoft Forward event didn't happen because there weren't enough new games to show. The giant, however, is likely to return with a show in 2026 and presumably then will officially announce the arrival of the much-anticipated remake of AC: Black Flag.
