Jordan Middler - a member of the editorial team of Video Games Chronicle - ignited the imagination of fans of Bethesda studio games with a few sentences. During a conversation on the Skill Up channel, the journalist revealed that the company is currently working on several projects related to the Fallout series. Interestingly, according to him, the studio head, Todd Howard, due to his age (54 years old), won't be involved in the fifth installment, and his last game will be The Elder Scrolls VI.

There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including - as far as I'm aware - the one you're all wanting. But it's not far enough along to say anything that is like, "You're going to be playing this game anytime soon" - Middler stated in the Friends Per Second podcast.

The journalist's statement, though very laconic, leads to speculation about Bethesda's future plans. In May last year, Todd Howard also seemed to suggest that Fallout 5 is not the only installment of the series that the studio is working on. In the absence of official information, we are left with only speculation.

The Fallout: New Vegas fan community holds a great sentiment for the game, so it would seem reasonable to create a sequel or a refreshed version of it. The case of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered showed that this is a great path that can lead to huge success. The list of possible projects also includes refreshed versions of Fallout 3 and 4.

The last game in the series, not counting the strategic spin-off Fallout Shelter Online, is Fallout 76, which is a multiplayer RPG. The title launched in 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Despite a tough start, it eventually gained a fan base and still receives updates.
