Uncharted Movie Trailer Criticized for Tom Holland and Lack of Mustache

With the release of the trailer for the upcoming Uncharted movie, fans have begun to analyze the video and compare individual scenes to the games. The similarities are many, but not necessarily the ones the community wanted to see.

Most of us associate Uncharted with a series of games released on PlayStation consoles. However, as we have known for some time now, a movie of the same title is also in production. Its official trailer appeared yesterday. In the hours since its publication, fans have managed not only to express their feelings, but also create many comparisons between the games and the film. Below you can see some of them.

It's not hard to find pictures, which compare the games and their movie adaptation. Of course, no one will be surprised by the fact that the images come largely from Reddit, more specifically from r/uncharted. What doesn't play well with each other, however, is the fact that the film was supposed to be a prequel to the game series, and the trailer features scenes from Uncharted 3 as well as the fourth game.

As far as the reception of the video is concerned, while the thumbs up/down ratio under the official trailer indicates a rather warm reception, there is no shortage of negative opinions. Thee comments include, for example, players quoting Kratos: "keep your expectations low, and you'll never be disappointed". A lot of people complain about the actor playing Nathan Drake, Tom Holland. According to many of them, he is too young to play the treasure hunter.

"I don't understand the casting choice a bit, but the aesthetic looks a lot like Uncharted. I wonder if the brand really needed an adaptation though, due to the cinematic feel of the gameplay, but I do hope they'll do something interesting while still keeping the character of Uncharted intact. A younger, less experienced Nathan Drake is a risky choice that will either be a flop or add something new to the series," writes one of the comments under the trailer on Sony Pictures Canada channel

"It looks like Sony went the Nintendo route, casting movie roles according to the popularity of the actors rather than how well they fit the character," writes a comment under the trailer on the PlayStation channel

In contrast, here is one of the posts from the Uncharted subreddit:

In addition to Tom Holland as Nathan Drake the movie also lacks Sully's moustache, which became a reason to "fix the trailer". You can see one of the improved versions below.

All in all, the movie doesn't seem like a total failure. The problem for fans of the series, however, is that despite the planned younger version of the treasure hunter we see scenes from the games, in which Drake is a mature man. And the moustache, or rather the lack of it.
