Using local map in Oblivion Remastered confuses players. Here's how to do it right
The map in TES Oblivion Remastered can be quite confusing. Fortunately, there is a local one that will let you grasp a lot more details. Here you will learn how to use it.

The worlds in The Elder Scrolls series are known to be huge. While the crown belongs to Daggerfall, in which travelling from one side of the map to another can take around two weeks in real time, other games in this franchise are way more sensible, yet impressive nonetheless. Recently, we were given a chance to revisit Cyrodill thanks to The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered, which was suddenly shadowdropped by Bethesda. The visual differences between the remaster and original are undeniably huge, and some would argue that it shouldn’t be even called a remaster as it’s much more than that, the changes are way deeper, including for example modernized levelling system. To navigate the world, we have a map at our disposal, yet after turning it on, it lacks some important details in our nearest surroundings. Fortunately, it is possible to open a local map showing all that is necessary, and here you will learn how to do that.
How to use local map in TES Oblivion Remastered
While main branch of Bethesda is working on The Elder Scrolls VI, Virtous, a game studio with HQ in Singapore, has reshaped the original TES Oblivion to give us a remaster worthy of competing with modern titles. The developers have decided to leave the production mostly true to the original with everything good and bad. Some mechanics can confuse new players, though. For example, to help us navigate Cyrodill, the in-game map has 2 stages – global and local. How to switch between them?
It is rather intuitive as to modern game standards, as all there is to do is to scroll down (zoom in) the map to the point where it changes its mode to local. You can see that in the scrollbar that’s located on the right side of the map menu, where its closest zoom level is marked by dots, indicating the local mode, while the line shows the global stage of the zoom.

That should help you out with getting around in cities and other important locations. There is some information that the map in TES Oblivion Remaster lacks, regardless of its details level, that’s why we have prepared an interactive one that you can check out to have the full overview of Cyrodill. Also, don’t hesitate to take a look at our guide where you will find a ton of useful info. Have fun!
