Indies Dominated Steam Last Week

Independent games dominated Steam's last week bestseller list. Valheim, Loop Hero, Deep Rock Galactic or Tale of Immortal are among the biggest winners. Apart from indie games, Outriders is also doing very well.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Valheim tops the Steam bestseller list for the fifth week in a row;
  • Loop Hero records excellent debut;
  • A renaissance of Deep Rock Galactic;
  • Chinese Tale of Immortal with 1.8 million copies sold and an English-language version announced.

Valve released the weekly list of biggest (by revenue) bestsellers on Steam. It shows that indie games from small teams currently reign supreme on the store. Valheim maintained its leading position for the fifth week in a row, and the second place was taken by a newcomer in the form of RPG Loop Hero. The success of the latter is all the more impressive that it was released only last Thursday and it's almost full price. A few days ago, the devs boasted that within 24 hours of launch their work was played by over 150 thousand people.

The third place among games (and fourth place in general, because the third place was taken by Valve Index VR Kit goggles) was taken by another indie in the form of Deep Rock Galactic, which shows that the recently organized free weekend was a success and effectively encouraged many people to buy the game.

The first five is closed by pre-orders of Outriders. This success is also worth noting. In the previous ranking the game occupied spot number 7. The increased interest in the title was due to the release of an extensive demo. As you can see, giving people a tangible taste of your game still pays off.

After many weeks, the Chinese RPG Tale of Immortal dropped out of the top five , but the creators have no reasons to complain, because so far they have sold over 1.8 million copies. In addition, the developers have announced that they are working on an English version, which will significantly expand the group of potential buyers, because for now the title is available only in China.

Finally, it's worth mentioning that Cyberpunk 2077is not on the bestseller list for the third week in a row, which shows that CD Projekt RED's game has already dropped out of the group of the biggest Steam bestsellers for good.
