Stop the Mongols in Free Game Vedelem: The Golden Horde

Vedelem: The Golden Horde is a strategy game developed as a student project, made available for free and warmly received on Steam.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • As part of their studies, a group of students from University of Applied Sciences in Breda have created the strategy game Vedelem: The Golden Horde and made it available for free on Steam;
  • In huge battles with thousands of units we fend off successive waves of attacks from the Mongolian army;
  • The game has received positive reviews and is one of the independent productions offered for free by the university.

Vedelem: The Golden Horde is a free-to-play real-time strategy (RTS) with survival elements, set in 13th-century Eastern Europe. It was created as an original project by a group of students from the University of Applied Sciences in Breda and receives positive reviews on Steam - currently they account for 92% of all reviews. The visuals are praised, as well as the number of available units and addictive gameplay mechanics.

The player's task is to face the greatest threat of that era: the Mongolian Golden Horde. To do so, we expand the defensive structures of the castle, manage resources and create armies that will defend our lands from successive waves of enemies. The game offers real-time gameplay and large-scale battles (the forces taking part in clashes reach thousands of units). To survive the successive storms of attacking Mongols, we have to improve and train our troops.

Vedelem enables us to play in one of three modes: Skirmish Mode, Endless Mode and Challenge Maps. In the first one we have to survive enemy attacks for a certain amount of time; in the second one we fight against successive waves of enemy armies without time limit. Challenge Maps are thirteen scenarios with separate maps and different levels of difficulty.

If you like games resembling They Are Billions, it's worth reaching for Vedelem: The Golden Horde. The title was published by the University of Applied Sciences in Breda, whose students create games as part of their studies and make them available for free on Steam.
