Already rich Warhammer 40,000 universe was recently extended by a new game developed by Auroch Digital studio. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a very warmly welcomed shooter stylised as a 90’s retro game released on all major platforms of current and previous generation. Warhammer 40k works are always adding to its already extensive lore. Boltgun is no different. Let’s take a closer look at the title’s main protagonist, battle-hardened Space Marine.

Who is Malum Caedo

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun’s main protagonist is Malum Caedo voiced by Rahul Kohli. His name means “I Beat Evil” in Latin. The Space Marine is not mere soldier. Malum is a Firstborn Sternguard Veteran of the Ultramarines Chapter’s 1st Company. This alone makes him an elite warrior of the Imperium of Man.

With prior invasion of Orc and Chaos forces on Graia (that happened several standard years before the game events), the planet has been closely observed by the Imperium of Man. One of the Ordo Malleus Inquisitors, Seibel, discovered that there have been tests conducted by rogue Tech-priests residing on Graia. Those experiments on unstable Warp-based power source led to opening of a Warp rift. These events forced the Imperium to send Malum Caedo alongside his brethren from Sternguard Veteran Squad to Graia.

Malum is ordered to regain the Power Source that allowed the forces of Chaos to assault the Forge World of Graia. Unfortunately, during the Ultramarines’ planetfall, their Drop Pod was damaged and crashed on the Graia’s surface. This event left Malum Caedo alone to fight forces of Chaos and complete his mission.

The game leads him through Graia while slaying countless enemies consisting of daemons of Chaos and Chaos Space Marines. It is a fast paced, old-school FPS where not only fans of Warhammer 40k universe will find something for themselves, but also all players who enjoy DOOM-like games.
