Update

Hardcore servers in WoW Classic have launched. Here are some of the attractions that await the players (their source is an official announcement from Cenega, the game's Polish distributor):

Death is permanent

  1. Players will be given one chance to level up as high as possible and take part in more dangerous activities, such as the Molten Core raid.
  2. Those who die will not be able to return to their bodies, but they can free themselves and remain a ghost - in this form they can finish their errands on the server (for example, as masters of a guild they can hand over leadership to another player).
  3. If the worst happens, and players feel like continuing to play with a character, they can transfer it to a non-hardcore server of the classic era for free.

Mak'gora and other PvP changes

  1. Battlefield queues will not be available on hardcore servers, but groups of players determined to take part in deadly gameplay will be able to participate in predetermined war games.
  2. Those who want to really test their skills can initiate a duel to the death mode by typing /makgora. The recipient player will be asked to accept a high-stakes duel.
  3. A new aura will visually indicate how many duels the player has completed and survived.

Security and class changes

  1. Players are sure to notice a shortened logout timer to reduce instances of disconnecting from the server at the wrong time.
  2. Class abilities and spells have been modified to prevent resurrections (both personal and those that can be used on other players), as have quests that require PVP flagging and death to push the story.
  3. Enemies will be tied to their respective revival locations and paths to prevent players from bringing them to other low-level quest areas.

Original news (August 1)

Some time ago news broke of the announcement of official Hardcore servers in World of Warcraft Classic. The mode, which began life as a fan-made option to spice up gameplay in the popular MMO, thus lived to see official support from the developers.

In yesterday's post on the game's official website, Blizzard Entertainment announced that Hardcore servers will open to players on August 24..

Relentless game mode

The new mode was designed for fans of WoW who like challenges and high stakes. The basic principle defining gameplay on a Hardcore server is permadeath.

In order to survive in an environment where any dangerous situation can cost a character their life, the developers have introduced a number of changes that will help players find their way in the new reality.:

  1. marking oneself as a player willing to participate in PvP combat will require manual entry of the appropriate command;
  2. enemy creatures will have a limited range of activity, after leaving which their status will be reset.

The developers have also taken the issue of gameplay balance seriously. Dungeons will have a special timer, which will enable you to visit them only once every 24 hours.. This rule will apply to players below level 60 and will encourage them to take up activities outside dungeons.

Blizzard also assured that it will punish, with great severity, the behavior of players who intentionally make life miserable for other users. Activities such as pulling death on others outside of established duels (Duel to the Death) or constantly killing important story characters will end in a ban.

Finally, it is worth adding that engaging in Hardcore mode will require the creation of a completely new, separate character. You can read more information and rules related to these servers on the game's official website.
