How to get a sniper rifle in TLoU2?

You won't find a ready-made sniper rifle in the game. You need to upgrade your standard rifle to create a sniper rifle, that is, add a scope.

Ellie will have a regular rifle from the Jackson - Patrol stage. However, the game will inform you about the possibility of using a rifle once you reach the massacred moose corpse for the first time.

You can upgrade your rifle and modify it into a sniper rifle by using any Workbench that is available in the area. The places where they can be found have been presented on a separate page of our guide - Workbenches and Workshops.

Select a rifle from the list of your weapons. You must take an interest in the 6x Scope upgrade, which allows you to install a 6x image magnification scope in your rifle. This upgrade costs 80 pieces of scrap.

From this point on, while aiming (L2 button), you can press X button to look through the scope. Additionally, it is worthwhile to press L3 in order to hold your breath for a while and stabilize the crosshair. This will allow you to fire very precise shots.

Mounting a scope on other weapons

After you take control of Abby later in the game, you will be able to install a scope on 3 different weapons. You have to find a workbench and pay for the scope upgrade. Abby can mount a scope on the following weapons:

1. Semi-Auto Rifle
2. Hunting Pistol
3. Crossbow
