Aliens Dark Descent: Can you play as aliens?
In Aliens Dark Descent you command a group of marines sent on missions. However, you may also be wondering - whether the game also allows you to play as an alien. From our guide you will find out if xenomorphs are a playable side of the conflict.
Playing as Xenomorphs can be a tempting proposition. On this page of the guide, we answer whether Aliens Dark Descent allows you to side with aliens or if leading a marine squad is the only mode in the campaign.
Playing marines and USS Otago crew

The story campaign in Aliens Dark Descent allow you to side with humans. These are primarily members of the USS Otago crew, among whom a critical role play marines sent on following missions. Another important character in the main storyline is Maeko Hayes - a former employee of Weyland-Yutani Corporation from Pioneer Station, from which the protagonists escape in the prologue of the campaign.
The main story focuses on stopping Xenomorphs on the colonized moon, Lethe, and preventing them from reaching other parts of the galaxy. At the same time, the crew of USS Otago is working on repairing the crashed spaceship.
Can you control aliens?

In some games from the Alien universe, there was a possibility to play as Xenomorphs. The best example might be the Aliens vs. Predator series, in which the aliens were one of the 3 playable sides of the conflict.
Unfortunately, in Aliens Dark Descent there is no option to play as aliens. They do not have their separate campaign and can't achieve their own goals, like infecting the Lethe population or members of the USS Otago crew. They are only antagonists of the game. However, it is not out of the question that the game may get a sequel or special story content that would allow controlling Xenomorphs. However, for now, this only remains in the realm of dreams.
