Aliens Dark Descent: How to create a shelter and how to rest?
Shelters are safe havens in the very dangerous world of Aliens Dark Descent. From this guide page, you will learn how to create a shelter and what are the profits for giving the order to send a team to rest.
In Aliens Dark Descent, some locations allow you to create shelters - safe places to rest. On this page of the guide, we explain what prerequisites there are for a shelter to be created, what resources are spent when preparing a suitable room, and what are the benefits of resting.

What are the uses of shelters and resting?

- A shelter is a safe location for the unit, where the led marines can rest. An option to create a resting place is very useful in situations where a lot of time elapsed since the last save or when your unit is exhausted.
- Using a shelter can lower the stress levels of your team by a maximum of 100 points. This is particularly important when stress has already escalated to higher levels and negatively affects the game (e.g. lower efficiency of the marines, slower accumulation of command points).
- Resting at a shelter forces an automatic save. We cannot stress how the possibility to save in Aliens Dark Descent is important, as you cannot create manual saves at any moment of the gameplay.
- Another advantage of the rest option is replenishing command points that can be spent on activating active skills.
- Visiting a shelter and resting also stops alien aggression from increasing and can interrupt the process of tracking the unit by xenomorphs.
- Finally, shelters can cure bleeding and some of the other negative effects.
Requirements for creating a shelter

Unfortunately, you cannot create shelter in any place on the map. Only those rooms that have a green building icon on the main map qualify - several such rooms are shown in the attached screenshot.
How to prepare a room for a potential shelter?
Below we have listed all the steps to create a shelter.

- Upon entering a room with the building icon, the information about the number of doors that have to be welded will be displayed. Only after welding the doors will the room become a safe place to rest.
- As much as you can, look for rooms that have only one welding location. This will allow faster preparation of a shelter and uses less resources.

On each door leading to the room you must choose the option to weld them. Each such operation spends 1 Tool. Remember to loot containers, as they often contain additional Tools.

If you've performed all needed actions correctly, an icon representing shelter activation will appear at the top of the screen (screenshot above).
After resting, you need to unlock at least one exit from the room to be able to continue. You can now return to exploring.
