Avatar Frontiers of Pandora: How to achieve Clean Kill during hunting?

While hunting wildlife for gathering purposes in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you may want to get a Clean Kill. In our guide, we explain the differences between Clean and Merciful Kills, and what tactics and weapons to use to attain the best results when hunting.

Clean Kill

Clean Kill and Merciful (kill with a bow) are messages appearing every time after a wild animal has been killed. Thanks to this, you can learn whether you managed to get a Clean Kill. Generally, there are 3 states of this:

1. Clean Kill was successful - this means a chance of gathering materials of higher rarity.
2. Clean Kill failed - you can still gather your materials, but only if you used a bow.
3. The animal remains have been destroyed - this will happen if you've used a firearm to kill the animal. As can be easily surmised, for maximum gathering effectiveness, avoid using human weapons when hunting animals (rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers etc.) unless you need to defend yourself from a predator and bow isn't the best weapon to fend it off.

How to achieve Clean Kill?

1. To achieve Clean Kill with your target, you need to aim for weak spots on the animal's body. You can have them distinguished and lit in yellow by using Na'vi Senses - we show an exemplary weak point in the screenshot. Some weak points may be really small in relation to overall size of the animal.
2. The best results are produced by using a Heavy Bow. Additionally, choose to fire the arrow only after the string has been fully drawn. This will maximize the power of the arrow and increase the chances that hitting the weak point will kill the animal instantly (thus achieving Clean Kill).

1. The descriptions in Hunter's Guide may help you recognize and locate weak spots. After opening the card of a given animal, click the button to highlight its weak spots (example in the screenshot).
2. Some animals doesn't have weak points and in this case, Clean Kill cannot be achieved.

1. Additional help can come from Silent Destroyer perk from Hunter tree. Unlocked, it allows attaining an instant kill even when hitting an armored weak spot, not only revealed ones.
2. If even when hitting a weak spot hasn't killed the animal on the spot, only injuring it, it may mean that your damage output is insufficient. Try to develop your character more and equip a Heavy Bow of better quality.
