Avatar Frontiers of Pandora: How to fight with mechs and AMP exoskeletons?
Mechs and PZM exoskeletons can be difficult to defeat in the game Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. In our guide there are hints on what are the weak points of the machines and how to defeat the AMP Stormtrooper exoskeleton from the main quest Pandora.
In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you will face enemy machines from time to time, which can be a AMP mechs or a AMP exoskeleton with an operator on board. On this page of the guide you will find tips on how to find machines' weak points and how to attack them effectively to destroy mechs and exoskeletons faster. Additionally, we explain how to hack machines from a distance and how the Eject Ancestor Skill works thanks to which you can throw out exoskeleton pilots from their cabins.
- First fight with an AMP Assault machine
- Combat Exo
- Eject - throwing out exoskeleton pilots
- Hacking enemy machines
First fight with an AMP Assault machine
- You will encounter the first enemy machine during the Pandora main quest. You will receive the mission objective to return to So'lek with a Dapophet Pod.
- After returning to the Fueling Station, you will find out that enemy soldiers have appeared there and that one of them is an AMP Assault. You'll get an updated goal to save So'lek, but you don't have to rush with eliminating the enemies.
- During this fight, you have a very limited way of dealing with the enemy. Use your longbow throughout the fight. In case of running out of arrows, retreat to a safe place to craft them in the weapon radial menu.
- AMP Assaults and other exoskeletons have 2 weak points, which you can expose by activating the Na'vi senses (they will be highlighted on the machine's armor).
- The first weak spot is the pilot's cabin, which is located in the upper part of the machine. Shoot the soldier controlling the machine.
- The second weak spot is the outlets on the back. Try to sneak up on the machine to be able to be able to make at least 1 accurate shot at one of the outlets.
Combat Exo
Another fairly early battle in the game where Combat Exos appear is the one during the Songs of the Ancestor main quest. You will reach the Pneumatic Tower, where in addition to infantry, you will also encounter several enemies in exoskeletons. You can use the techniques described above with hitting weak spots (pilot's cabin, outlets on the back) or:
- Throw stun grenades - they can damage the machine and temporarily paralyze it (example in the picture).
- Hit explosive objects in the environment - an explosion of a, e.g. barrel or generator, may damage nearby machines.
- Use long explosive arrows - you should now be able to craft them. Try to shoot with your bow when the machine is standing still.
- In the further part of the game, we recommend getting the Silent Destroyer skill available on the Hunter tree. Unfortunately, it requires 4 skill points.
- Silent Destroyer allows you to destroy the machine with a stealth attack aimed at its armored weak spot. Use a Heavy Bow for a better effect.
Eject - throwing out exoskeleton pilots
- In the Silk Woods region near the Aranahe Clan Hometree, there is a Tarsyu flower. Getting it will allow you to unlock the Eject Ancestor Skill, which allows you to easily eliminate machine pilots.
We have described how to reach the location with the flower in more detail on the Ancestor Skills page.
- Always start by approaching the target machine. Throw a stun grenade to temporarily stun the machine and quickly start sprinting towards it.
- After running to the paralyzed machine, perform a melee attack by pressing the V key or the right analog stick.
- This should trigger an animation of the operator being thrown out of the cabin. A huge advantage of this method is that you can use Eject on those machines that have not yet been seriously damaged and thus avoid longer fights with them.
Hacking enemy machines
- Once you unlock the SID gadget, you can hack mechs and exoskeletons from a distance. You need to equip the device and aim it at the machine. Try to stay hidden.
- You must complete a hacking mini-game (its assumptions are described on the Hacking page). After completing the mini-game, you can sabotage the machine immediately or do it later, e.g. to turn off several of them at the same time.
- Sabotage will result in a temporary shutdown of the machine. You can use this, for example, to quickly reach the mission target or to attack a defenseless mech.
