Last Two Shovel Knight Expansions Delayed and Other News
Today's collection of short news: the last two expansions for Shovel Knight, as well as the SIGIL mega mod from Johna Romero are delayed, Steam info corner gets a new layout.
The last two expansions to Shovel Knight delayed
Yacht Club Games studio doesn't have good news for the fans of the studio's popular arcade game with RPG elements - Shovel Knight. The release of the last two expansions for the title, King of Cards and Showdown, will not take place at the beginning of April, as originally planned, but only in a few months. However, this is not as much due to development problems, as to logistical issues. Citing a post from the studio's official website:
It remains our focus to bring these to the highest level of quality just as we have with previous Shovel Knight games. It's also our priority to have these games on the disc/card for the upcoming physical version. We need a little more time to make this happen, and so we are pushing the release back one last time. We're still aiming to release everything at once, so this delay applies to everything: physical editions, digital update, and Treasure Trove amiibo 3-pack.
John Romero's SIGIL only in April
Not only the expansions to Shovel Knight have been delayed. SIGIL, the free mega mod for the first installment of the cult Doom, developed by the legendary figure that is John Romero (co-founder of id Software, who worked on Wolfenstein 3D, the aforementioned Doom and Quake, among others), has met a similar fate. Initially, it was to be released later this month, but the launch was postponed. To quote Romero himself:
There were a few snags in production trying to make sure everything is top-notch for fans! I just wanted to let everyone who purchased either the Big Box or the Beast Box know that it is now looking like it will ship sometime in April. Thank you for your patience, and I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. This also means the free version of SIGIL will have to wait until after the boxes are in the hands of customers.
New design of Steam's about section
Valve refreshed the look of the Steam's about section on its digital distribution platform. Simple tiles with basic information have disappeared. They were replaced by a more modern-looking list, presenting the most important advantages of the application. These include instant access to games, a huge community of players and technologies. There is also an encouragement and a promise to developers and publishers that Steamworks tools will enable you can squeeze as much as possible out of the distribution of games on Steam. The latter is important in the context of the battle for developers that recently declared by Epic Games platform.
