A few words about the game

It's quite possible you haven't heard of Pathologic 2 yet. Not surprisingly, as it is a very specific title created by a small Russian studio Ice-Pick Lodge. It's an adventure survival horror with RPG elements, in which we go to a mysterious town at the request of our father. It's is perfect for people who are looking for an artistic element in games. Here, understatements are much more common than factual information, and darkness is intertwined with absurdity in a grotesque way.

Type of cruelty

During the course of the game, we play a doctor, one with surgical experience. There's an outbreak in his town, and we're one of only a few doctors. In a simple mini-game, we need to diagnose patients to give them the right medication. Any such attempt proves painful, and morphine is always scarce, so we sometimes just skip anesthesiology. Especially since the game is trying to batter us every step of the way. Everyone is after us since day one, then everyone wants something, everything is missing, time is running out, so... sometimes, you can afford a little bit of malice.

Surgery without anesthesia isn't enough? In this game, we can also dissect the bodies of deceased NPCs to harvest their organs. Sometimes, we do it directly on the street or in a house. Of course, we do so for a noble purpose. We're finally looking for a cure. In the meantime, we're looting the homes of the sick because we're hungry. Still, you can rest assured that in this game, you will feel more like a victim than an executioner.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
