All We Know About New Xbox Series X – System Specs, Price, Launch Titles

"The most powerful console on the market." High computing power and an Xbox Game Pass subscription with premiere titles are Microsoft's main assets supposed to allow them to win the launch of next-gen launch. Here's all we know about Xbox Series X.

Table of Contents

Xbox Series X launch titles

The case of Xbox Series X and its games is a little different, since Xbox games are no longer exclusive per se, as they're all playable on PC Windows 10 for quite a while, according to Microsoft's commendable Play Anywhere solution, and availability in Xbox Games Pass. That's what happened to Xbox' former greatest hits, namely Gears of War and Forza. The announced games that will let us put the new console through paces will also be available on PC.

With the monthly Xbox 20/20 presentations, we are gradually learning more and more about the games that will release when the next generation launches, and those that will be released at a later date. That will undoubtedly be the case with the newly announced new Fable or Forza Motorsport.

In addition to the items listed below, Xbox Series X will also receive other multiplatform games on launch day, including Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs: Legion, DiRT 5, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and others. We can also expect refreshed versions of older games like Forza Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2.

Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite is the second installment of the series developed by 343 Industries, which took over the franchise after the Bungie, the original creators. It is a direct sequel to Halo 5: Guardians and will once again feature the iconic space soldier character, Master Chief. The creators promise that the new game will be a more personal experience, focusing on the protagonist of the series and at the same time creating a new opening.

In Infinite, we face the Banished led by the mysterious Eschuram. As always, the plot is meant to be a very important part of the game, and you will find something for both veterans and those just beginning their adventure with Halo. The game is powered by an entirely new engine, and the maps will be much larger. This production will run smoothly in 4K @60 fps.

The Medium

The Medium is the work of the Polish studio Bloober Team, known for their series Layers of Fear and Blair Witch. The new game will traditionally be a horror, and it's going to be an even more ambitious and bigger project. In The Medium, we play a mysterious woman with paranormal abilities who visits a derelict hotel.

The authors patented special "dual reality" mechanics that allows the protagonist to simultaneously explore two dimensions: spiritual and real. The activities performed in them will immediately affect each other, which will add a lot of depth to the puzzles and riddles. The artistic style of The Medium are strongly evocative of the works of Zdzislaw Beksinski, a Polish surrealist painter, while one of the authors of the soundtrack is Akira Yamaoka, the creator of the music for the legendary Silent Hill series.

Orphan of the Machine

It's one of low-budget titles. We play a dolphin traversing underwater levels inspired by the metroidvania genre. The main feature of the game is to run at full 4K and constant 120 frames per second.

Xbox series X Games – announced exclusives

A number of games that are still in the early stages of production have also been announced for the Xbox Series X, and will not be released until next year or even later. These are both classic brands that have always been associated with the Xbox, and brand new items whose creators have received support from Microsoft.

Flight Simulator 2020

Microsoft's oldest video game franchise makes it to next generation after the PC release, but it gets there nonetheless. We just don't know whether it will be released this year, at launch of Series X, or later on. Flight Simulator 2020 on Xbox is intended to provide exactly the same experience as on personal computers, i.e. a realistic experience of flying a civilian aircraft anywhere in the world.

Forza Motorsport

The new version of Forza Motorsport's motor racing simulator is still in the early stages of production. It probably won't be marked with another round number (8). It's sure to bring stunning graphics.

State of Decay 3

Another Xbox title with only a brief teaser. In State of Decay 3, we're likely to face not only zombies, but also a harsh winter environment.

Fable

The next installment of the classic Xbox series is being produced and is expected to be a reboot of the cult franchise That's all we know so far. It's also developed by Playground Games studio, the authors of Forza Horizon.

Stalker 2

The fact that Stalker 2 is coming was clear for a while. It has now been revealed that outside of the PC, it will only be available on the Xbox Series X on the day of release. The approximate date of release is still unconfirmed.

Avowed

The authors of Pillars of Eternity and Fallout: New Vegas, Obsidian Entertainment, will deliver what they feel best at – a pure-bred RPG. However, the new generation will allow us to explore the world from first-person perspective, even though we're still in the Eora region, known from Pillars. The first-person perspective and the atmosphere in the trailer also indicate that the upcoming Avowed could be something like a new Skyrim.

Hellblade II: Senua's Saga

We know virtually nothing about Hellblade II other than that we'll be re-enacting the famous Celtic warrior Senua from the first part, and the action of this game will move to Iceland. In the last game, we've made a tremendous journey to Hellheim, the Viking hell, to fight for the soul of a lover once lost. Created in cooperation with professional psychiatrists, the title boldly recreated the effects of schizophrenia and various hallucinations. What new gimmicks will the studio give us this time?
