Founded in 2007, the American studio IllFonic cannot be denied some obstinacy. Since its inception, this team has been stubbornly trying to conquer the world of online gaming and has consistently failed. The world did not like their debut Nexuiz, nor the most famous work Friday the 13th: The Game, nor Dead Alliance. Despite their questionable quality, however, these projects were popular enough to keep IllFonic afloat and lead to another game – a similar adaptation of Friday the 13th Predator: Hunting Grounds.
The asymmetrical online production allows one player to take on the role of the titular space hunter, while the few remaining players take on the roles of the commandos who fight it. And it makes the same mistakes as a few years earlier inFriday the 13th: The Game – it scares us not with its atmosphere, but with very poor technical condition, it can't figure out matchmaking, it discourages us from playing with poor balance, and it offers far too little content.
