Our own small gang
Belonging to a mafia family is one thing, but wouldn’t you like to have your own little ‘gangster squad’? Small gangs and teams are the fundamental element of any crime organization, and to do justice to the times, we would also like to see this element in Mafia III. By no means are we talking about NPC’s during missions – we want a chance to hand-pick our own team to send on missions and control our own little empire. Sending a trustworthy accomplice to pick up a tribute in our name from a local shop owner would not only make the gameplay easier, but would also give us a natural feeling of actually climbing the ladder of the criminal hierarchy. Obviously a small fry needs to go everywhere personally, but taking care of such trivial business doesn’t suit a don, does it?
A welcome addition to such a system would be a chance to customize our very own mobsters. Not only giving them names, but also deciding upon which specialization they take, how they develop further or dress for the job. A new suit and an elegant bowler for our favorite recruit seems trivial only in theory, but as experience shows, we could spend dozen of hours micromanaging such things. The changes would be rather cosmetic, and not influence the gameplay itself so much. It would be a chance to, apart from our own career in the world of crime, control our own small team. This would certainly appeal to a large part of the audience, so why not give it a try?
