14 Best-Selling RPGs - The Most Popular Role-Playing Games in 2022

There are many ways to measure popularity. Here, we've compiled a list of best-selling role-playing games, which have sold the most copies throughout their entire lifespan.

Table of Contents

Elden Ring

Developer: FromSoftware

Year of release: 2022

Estimated number of copies sold: 16,6 million

NOTES

Admittedly, it went in an iffy – 16.6 million copies found their buyers in just a few months. We would like to remind you that the game was released on February 25, this year, and the latest sales figure covers the period until June.

The number of Elden Ring copies sold has shown that players still can't get enough of soulslike. Well, according to some, the latest production by FromSoftware went in the wrong direction, because it seems a bit more accessible than its predecessors. But nobody seems to complain about the biggest novelty, i.e. the fantastically created open world of the game. He is the greatest hero. The locations are dazzling with views, despite graphics being somewhat substandard compared to the best-looking games. However, its shortcomings can only be spotted under careful scrutiny. And there is no time for that when the dance of death begins.

As always, the fights are demanding, especially further inside this diverse realm, in regions that were not created for newbies. In such situations, it will be better to go back and gain some experience in less hostile lands. Those who are not hostile are a rarity here. Death lurks everywhere and without learning the opponents, including bosses, it will be difficult to break the cycle of failures. Once you achieve success and knock down an extremely strong opponent, the satisfaction is so great that you really don't need anything else to be happy. Well, maybe apart from winning another trophy.
