So adventure games were already a uncommon in the second half of the 90s. Today we can say the same about some genres. Fortunately, the Monkey Island series has lasted the test of time. The older players, a real "dinosaurs" were recently impressed by the latest installment of Return to Monkey Island. And what is remarkable is that reading the latest and those reviews, we see that the delights are focused on the same elements!

Great plot, dialogues, puzzles, voice acting - the constituent elements of each part of the series. It was no different in 1997, but back then The Curse of the Monkey Island also stood out for a few other reasons. It was the first LucasArts game released exclusively on CD-ROM, which allowed for the addition of a soundtrack performed by a real orchestra, fully animated cutscenes, and fully voiced dialogs. At the same time, it was the last 2D game based on the SCUMM script language, which was used in production of other games from LucastArts. According to some reviews, it was the voiced dialogues that allowed the game to be received on a completely different level, while the whole thing was completed with traditional humor, numerous references to pop culture and absorbing puzzles. Today, The Curse of the Monkey Island has gained the status of a timeless classic.
