The place is governed by various flying beings led by dragons trying to execute their plan of destroying the world beneath them. In order to prevent this from happening, the players have to complete a series of story quests, as well as countless side missions. When completing those, the players' virtual avatars will be visiting ten new locations, among which one will find both islands floating in the sky and vast underground areas. Kingdom of Sky also brings hundreds of new items, abilities and spells, as well as 25 kinds of completely new enemy types. Apart from that, the creators decided to raise level cap to 70; guilds on the other hand, can now reach level 50 at maximum. As a reward for heroic deeds, one's character is capable of becoming an important figure in the history of the EverQuest universe.

The only hope left to prevent the disaster lies in the heroes of Norrath. The add-on brings 30 new story-based quests which can be completed in seven new diverse locations. The expansion offers 25 new enemy types, a set of additional pieces of equipment, as well as both new abilities and spells. What's more, Prophecy of Ro introduces artifacts to the game - items that give the upper hand in combat to the character who carries them, but offer an opportunity to create different traps as well. The expansion pack utilizes the same technology that powers the core EverQuest, though the creators have also managed to implement a set of new mechanics. As a result, the players are now capable of destroying certain environmental objects.
